This policy explains what personal information J.P. Belback collects, why, and what happens to it. It describes what this website actually does, rather than a generic list of practices. If any of it stops being accurate, the policy gets updated.
The short version
- This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.
- There is no account, no login, no online store, and no payment processing.
- There is no contact form. You get in touch by phone, text, or email.
- The web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
- What you tell us about your project is used to answer you, quote the job, and do the work.
Applicable law
J.P. Belback is subject to the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), which governs how private-sector businesses in Ontario handle personal information. Commercial electronic messages are subject to Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What this website collects
Nothing you type
The site is a set of static pages. There is no contact form, no newsletter signup, and no search box, so there is no way to submit information through the site itself.
No cookies, no analytics, no third-party requests
This site sets no cookies of any kind. No analytics service is installed, so visits are not measured or profiled. Every asset, including the fonts, is served from this site's own domain, so loading a page does not send anything about your visit to a font network, an advertising network, or any other third party. That is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly.
Server logs kept by the web host
The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a service operated by Google. Like every web host, it records standard request logs: the IP address making the request, the date and time, the page or file requested, the referring page, and the browser's user-agent string. These logs exist to serve the site, keep it available, and diagnose faults or abuse. This is the main point at which any data about your visit is collected, and it is collected by the host rather than by anything added to these pages.
Information you provide directly
When you call, text, or email, you will typically share your name, your phone number or email address, the location of the property, and details about the work you want done. Any photographs you send of your property are treated the same way.
That information is used to:
- reply to your enquiry;
- measure, price, and prepare an estimate;
- order the right materials, and schedule and carry out the work;
- answer warranty questions and follow up on work already done;
- keep the business records required for tax and accounting purposes.
It is not used for anything else. Personal information is never sold, rented, or traded. You will not be added to a marketing list because you called.
Who else sees it
No one, apart from the service providers needed to run the business and any supplier or trade directly involved in your job:
- Email provider. The business email address is a Gmail address, so Google acts as the email provider and processes and stores messages sent to it.
- Phone and text. Calls and text messages pass through the mobile carrier in the ordinary way.
- Web host. Google, through Firebase Hosting, as described above.
- Suppliers and trades. Where a job requires it, the information needed to order or deliver materials, or to coordinate another trade, is shared for that purpose only.
Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal demand.
Photographs of completed work
Photographs of finished and in-progress projects are used on this site to show the standard of the work. They are chosen to show the building work itself, they are not labelled with customer names or street addresses, and all metadata — including any GPS location recorded by the camera — is stripped from every image before it is published. If a photograph of your property appears here and you would rather it did not, say so and it will be removed.
How long information is kept
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept only as long as they are useful for following up, then deleted. Records connected to work actually performed — estimates, contracts, invoices, and warranty records — are kept as long as needed to honour the workmanship warranty and to meet Canadian tax and record-keeping requirements, then disposed of.
Keeping it secure
Reasonable safeguards are used to protect personal information, including access-controlled devices and accounts, and this site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so no absolute guarantee can be given.
Your rights under PIPEDA
You may ask what personal information about you is held, ask to see it, ask that it be corrected if it is wrong, and ask that it be deleted where there is no legal or business reason to keep it. You may also withdraw consent to further contact at any time, subject to any records that must be retained by law.
Requests are answered within the timeframe PIPEDA requires. Some verification may be needed first, so that information is not disclosed to the wrong person.
Children
This site is aimed at property owners and is not directed at children. Information is not knowingly collected from them.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the business or the site changes. The effective date at the top shows when the current version took effect.
